Sweat Yourself Skinny with Infrared Sauna

Infrared Sauna alone is one of the most important breakthroughs for health, and probably the most important avenue for detox and living an abundant healthy life today, and an extra perk on top of the amazing health benefits, is losing weight.

The New Year is when most people start to re-evaluate their health and wellness routine, and get energized about health and weight management.

I'm a fan for weight loss if your weight is affecting your overall health, and diminishing your quality of life. It’s no secret that maintaining a healthy weight is important to overall health and longevity. A 10-year study published by the New England Journal of Medicine sites that the circumference of your waist alone is a critical factor for assessing risks for premature death. One of the best tools available today for maintaining optimal health and wellness (and weight) is Far Infrared Sauna.

Certain health issues can prevent some from being able to exercise, and to experience all of the health benefits that accompany it.

A far infrared sauna can be the perfect way to “exercise” and lose weight for those who cannot participate in traditional exercise programs due to medical conditions like osteoarthritis, cardiovascular issues, respiratory issues, and certain autoimmune issues. And for those who love to hit the gym, it can help relieve aches and pains associated with training, by helping you get back into the gym the next day.

A 30-minute far infrared sauna session is considered a passive cardio workout similar to exercise, and can help to lower weight and waist circumference in a just a 3-month period.

According to JAMA, a far infrared sauna session can burn upwards of 600 calories per 30-minute session, similar to an hour-long jogging session on a treadmill. As your core body temperature rises and the body works to cool itself off, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories. Blood flow rises, increasing from 5-7 quarts up to 13 quarts per minute, all leading to weight loss and a decrease in waist circumference.

All Infrared is good, but not all Infrared is created equal!

If your goal is to lose weight while you're experiencing all of the other health benefits of an infrared sauna (we'll dive into all of the other benefits in another post), then you need to make sure that you vet the right sauna for the job. The key to weight loss (and other health benefits) and the "secret sauce" with an infrared sauna is raising your core body temperature. The higher the core body temperature is raised, the larger the decrease in body fat, published in a Binghamton University study.

The only Infrared Sauna that I will use is clinically proven to raise your core body temperature 3 degrees in 30 minutes. It is like creating a false fever to regenerate old cells into new cells, and is the secret to providing true therapeutic health benefits. There are a few saunas on the market that can reach a 3 degree increase anywhere from 40-60 minutes, but most cannot reach that mark.

If you want to make sure you're getting the most out of your Infrared Sauna session then make sure to request the Core Body Temperature Study for the sauna. It will show clinically how effective the sauna will be at therapeutic healing and weight loss. You want your core temperature to raise 3 degrees in 30 minutes for optimal benefits. Most infrared sauna manufactures do not post their Core Body Temperature Studies for that reason alone...because they don't measure up to the therapeutic standard.

Now back to weight loss..

The same Binghamton University study shows that the time of day makes a difference in losing weight, too. Those that used the far infrared sauna later in the afternoon/evening lost significantly more body fat than those using the sauna in the mornings, making 3pm or after the optimal time to sauna for weight loss (this time of day resulted in twice the rate of fat loss). So, in order to maximize your weight loss goals this New Year, commit to at least 3 far infrared sauna sessions a week at 3pm or later, and you could see results in as little as 3 months!
